Transforming complex thinking to address conflict and social polarization
Sara is a social cognitive psychologist and co-developer of the IC Thinking Method, tested over nearly two decades at the University of Cambridge. She has designed and delivered IC programs in over 10 countries, addressing intergroup conflict, extremism, and social polarisation. Her work integrates cognitive, social, emotional, and embodied reasoning to help individuals and groups develop more complex, resilient thinking.
Raafia Raees Khan

Specialist in rehabilitation, deradicalization, and IC-based transformation
Raafia is a clinical psychologist and Vice CEO of SWAaT for Pakistan, where she co-develops and oversees rehabilitation and reintegration programs for youth formerly involved in violent extremism. She has led IC courses in educational, professional, and security contexts and specializes in applying IC thinking to deradicalization, prevention, and long-term monitoring.
Mark Savage

Scaling IC interventions through education, AI, and digital innovation
Mark is an educator whose previous work includes science teaching, research, and prison chaplaincy. Since joining IC in 2019, he has pioneered online delivery of IC through digital media and developed the IC Training Learning Management System with AI-assisted IC coding. He manages IC Educational's operations and helps scale interventions internationally while advancing transformational education and deep critical thinking.
Jessica Francar
IC & Critical Thinking Specialist, Senior Consultant
Integrating trauma-informed care with IC thinking in complex settings
Jessica is a multilingual trauma psychotherapist and peacebuilding practitioner with over a decade of experience in humanitarian and development, clinical, and educational settings. She began working with IC while overseeing a project in the Middle East and now leads initiatives across conflict-affected regions, integrating critical thinking, culturally responsive approaches, and evidence-based care to strengthen resilience, protection systems, and social cohesion.
Maria Essman
IC & Cognitive Neuroscience Specialist, Senior Consultant
Innovating online IC training and research to expand cognitive complexity
Maria has a background in clinical psychology and cognitive neuroscience and was the first to complete Level 5 IC Training. She developed the first fully online IC session using immersive multimedia and is conducting research to refine IC methods and explore applications in education, polarization, AI reasoning, and climate inaction.
